Everything But the Squeal

The Jukejoint Handmedowns have been hard at work recording their follow up CD since the beginning of the year 2013 and hope to have it available around May sometime. Titled 'Oh Me Oh My!' and will feature a heapin' helping of new original tunes including a few penned by Paul and Craig. We will be unveiling a 'making of' blog in the near future that will chronicle our 'bare bones recording techniques' for the terminally curious, so watch this space.

Meanwhile, our first CD, the 'Multiple Jammie* Nominated' 'Everything But the Squeal' is still making the rounds, and features 16 original songs including "Easy Come Easy Go", "Oh So Blue", "Wings of Happenstance", "I Don't Mind", and plenty more where that came from. Available at all our gigs, or you can check the links below for ordering online. If you are in the Grand Rapids area give our local community radio station (WYCE 88.1) a call and request us. If you represent a radio station that may be open to spinning our disc, drop us and email and we'd be happy to send a promo pack your way.

*Local Radio Station WYCE's "Jammie Awards" are given annually to the best local talent, and our CD garnered 4 nominations this year. "Best Roots Album" (where we were one of the top 5 finalists), "Best Song" (Wings of Happenstance), "Best New Artist", and "Album of the Year".

AVAILABLE NOW - Available on iTunes right now for those who prefer the 'instant gratification' that only an mp3 download can provide. Also can be downloaded on Amazon.com and at CDBaby.com. If you are in the Grand Rapids area, they can also be purchased at both Schuler Books locations (28th Street and Alpine) or at Vertigo Music on Division. Or better yet, catch us after one of our live shows, and pick one up in person (and we'll throw in a squeal at no extra charge). $10 for 16 songs, the best value for your Jukejoint Dollar.

Music Videos

We have various music videos posted on YouTube, just search for 'Jukejoint Handmedowns' to see the entire collection (some by us, some by our fans). Recently, I've discovered the superior video quality of Vimeo, and below are a few of our animated music videos in HD. (the same videos are available on YouTube, but at much lower quality)

Here's an animated video of "(not a big one)" from the same CD, that was used as a promo for our ArtPrize entry in 2012:

Reviews

"Channeling all sorts of musical styles through their four-piece country-bluegrass instrumentation, these fine players have taken some of the best elements of the past 20 years of revival-pop music and made a very friendly collection of songs which veer away slightly from the usual Americana-style singer/songwriter stuff and get nearer to old-time country music, tin-pan alley, and dare I say it, sedately Barenaked Ladies-style jazz-influenced acoustic guitar rock. The recording itself is very smooth and intimate, as if the musicians were standing in your living room. Bring your mandolin and road trip down to jukejointhandmedowns.com to check it out." - RC, Recoil Magazine

"Having had the extreme pleasure of seeing the Jukejoint Handmedowns many times in a variety of live venues, I have come to deeply appreciate not only their talent and skilled musicianship, but also their impressive song-writing abilities (both Tim and Nate) and the great sense of fun that they bring to their music and their performances. Those of us who know them well are thrilled to have an "official" recording to savor and share with others. Those of you who are reading this and may not know them... make the effort to: buy this CD, take your shoes off, sit back and smile. If you can catch them performing live, do that too. Your universe will be better for it all." - G.M. 'Bud' Thompson, Amazon Review

"Living in Nashville and hearing all the BS commercial marketed country music. It sure is refreshing to finally hear a band that has gone back to the roots! Love the simplicity and the steel guitar! Are you boys out of Texas?" - Rods of Cane, iTunes Review

"The best band you never heard." - Dave Eder, former owner of 'Jukes' in Grand Rapids
